Sadly, it's true. So if you have decorations you want from the Zoo tab you may want to buy them now and save them in your storage. And save any current decorations you have in your zoo.

@Jamie2doyen you make very good points. There are separate zoo games for animal lovers. I am all for removing aspects of the game as it has gotten too complicated. Downsizing is fine. What many players object to is the focus on match 3, but Playrix has several games; the Match 3 explorations games are often exactly the same as other of Playrix games so a group of programmers can be supporting multiple games.
@Sharai12 @Neighbor Jane @MaggieAkaEiggam Yes. According to multiple sources, including screenshots from Playrix Support, Zoo is being discontinued. Admin @Adarsh2019 has updated the wiki page as such. (Thanks!)
TBH I'm less and less interested in playing this game. It was fun, but now it's just a Candy Crush clone. Many of the decorations and distinct features are gone. I'm forced to do regattas against co-ops with a full house. The past few expeditions required stupid amount of energy points.
Looks like Playrix is trying really hard to cure my Township addition.
I'm slowing winding down my stuff here. I still have ~20k T-cash. I'll use them up and evaluate my next steps.
@Neighbor Jane "What many players object to is the focus on match 3"
Oddly enough, they likely could have simplified the game by instead removing match-3, and tying 'energy' to task completion and town-building. (same for regatta) Many games make 'matching' an integral part of the game, and the reality is that it's not something township really needs to make the game work.
In fact, one could suggest match-3 is a 'foreign' element. Completing tasks in-game with respect to farming, mining, building and such is intuitive. But match-3 isn't. It's really the only thing that doesn't fit into the game at all. (Reminds me of the song, "One of these things is not like the others, one of these things is not the same...") lol
What will be interesting is how the players react to this. Methinks the developers only rolled this out in 'select' regions so they could see if there was a negative impact on income. If so, they could potentially undo it (or pause it) before more damage was done. That may be why this wasn't mentioned in the last news update.
Anyway, the nice thing is that there are so many games out there, that a person certainly won't have a problem finding something new.
@Jamie2doyen Match-3 exists simply because that's the only steady source of income for Playrix. There are salaries to pay, servers/hosting to rent/subscribe, etc. Removing Match-3 means no more (significant) income, and Township will collapse within a week.
As long as people are playing expedition and picking match-3 regatta tasks, Playrix is safe.
Personally I doubt if zoo will be "undone". Imagine the chaos that will ensue. The messages from Playrix support explicit stated that the goal is to focus on "creating new content for your town, expedition and match-3."
Shamelessly lifted from another social media group:
I'm surprised anyone could play the game and think it's complicated. If anything Playrix has been dumbing down the game by taking away the previous challenges and events such as the room re-designs, the cart races, and so many other components. Now all we have is one boring expedtion after another. No fun decorations as prizes, the regatta has become boring and almost pointless. They've become stingy with prizes, they've been losing players and now with them removing the zoo, they will lose even more. Unless they're coming up with something worth replacing it with, I don't see the game lasting much longer. What a shame.
While I can’t say I am a fan of the zoo now days, I was a big fan and put a lot off effort into decorating it 😁
I am bored to death with match 3 and don’t play it at all and consequently stopped playing regatta.
Perhaps we, the gang, should discuss here what new game to move to so we can stay together, would hate to lose you guys @Neighbor Jane @Sharai12 @PolarTown @RockyRuud and would like some new friends from the forum 😋
I think it is wonderful that this game helped us find each other, what more could one hope for from a game 🤗
Hi all, I have update today (the latest game update from end of January, 2025) and my zoo is still in place and not missing.
@MaggieAkaEiggam A handful of us have been friends for several years and communicating with you has been a joy. I am glad @PanamaDevil explained games declining over time. @PolarTown made a point of income from match-3. When I write the game has become too complicated, I refer to ever-increasing crops and factories, requiring monitoring of inventory. Too many buildings without sufficient expansions means I have less room for decorations.
Several posts list lack of desirable prizes. Most gold pass purchasers among my friends are newer players. Regatta store and match 3 prizes are town signs and profile pictures; many boosters offered could be purchased with gems (I have nearly 3000 gems) rather than purple boosters which have to be earned. In the last 18 months, I purchased gold pass when there was a decoration I wanted. I purchased tcash for $2.99 US$ when it included a barn upgrade coupon. I spend a little on speeding up the dealer for low-inventory products, other wise not spending right now.
@Terravite That's how it has been. They're removing it slowly either based on device or platform used or regions. I just got the update today and my zoo is gone 😕 After years of work on it, some real money spent for t-cash, all the supplies that went into it my compensation was 100 t-cash, 10,000 gold and boosters I don't need. Playrix is not listening to their player base or paying attention to all the declining reviews. It's unfortunate. @MaggieAkaEiggam I have started playing another game that is very similar to Township called Wild West: New Frontier. It's so cute and so far I'm enjoying it. It has it's pros and cons but if you're wanting something very similar to Township then that would be the game for you 😊
To those who didn't know: I started playing Township out of boredom. Broke my ankle, had surgery, couldn't go to the gym for 6 months. So much free time on my hands.
Now that I'm back in the gym, and work is busy as ever, I don't see myself investing more time getting into a new game.
I'm at Township Level 332, Match-3 Level 50250. There's nothing to play for anymore. Sure, a new community building every 2 versions.... but then what? I don't want more town signs or profile pics. I want something to look forward to; something that makes me go, "I WANT to get that!"
Spaceport is the last thing I truly want, and achieved. The Profile Pic of Betsy the cow from the Martian Odyssey Event is the only one I care for.
The story line of the expedition game is kinda neat, but it starts getting repetitive. Yes, I'm looking at you, Mason. Stop harassing Rachel. She's not interested in you.
Alright. I'm done ranting for now.
What do you think?
